Nigerian stories, struggles,histories and growth

Emeka was rushed to the school clinic but after a proper medical check-up, the school doctor said that the diagnosis didn’t  show any case of illness. At this point, everyone concluded that it may have been caused by exhaustion. The issue was ignored and forgotten  but Emeka knew all was not well  as he knows he was not tired or feeling weak at the instance when he slumped few hours ago. Just like the others after trying to get answers but couldn’t , he too moved on by ignoring it.

Later in the evening that same day, the junior students were playing football at  an open field close to the dormitory when Emeka came to join them. They ignored his request to join them and also mocked him saying “Go and join the principal in signing paper and leave us alone here”. He felt bad and he then uttered a curse to those mocking him saying “May Amadioha strike that ball you’re playing”  immediately, a thunderous noise was heard from the skies which brought down a flash rays of light to them and the ball which they played burst into pieces. At this occurrence, they were all shocked and ran away but Emeka stood there confused and shocked at how his words came to pass.  When other students heard what had happened, they were all scared of Emeka. Some secretly called him “Son Of The gods” .

The news of what happened that evening became the talk of the school the next day but no one was bold enough to go and report the case to the school authorities because they were not sure if they won’t be cursed just like the ball by Emeka. So everyone kept mute about it. that same day, a thief broke into the dormitory while classes were on. So no one knew what was going on.  later on after classes, the students found out that there was a serious looting of their beds, bags and pillows. They were shocked and were not sure of who to even suspect about the whole mess. Emeka came into his own room and discovered that the cup his father used which he brought to school to make use of was also stolen amongst other valuables. He felt like crying. He then angrily once again placed a curse on the thief who stole their properties saying “May he run mad and tie those properties he stole round his waist and walk to every building in this town” . his angry curse made others laugh as they could imagine a man tying beds, cups, pillows round  his waist and walking round the town. The school was alerted about the theft and the issue was reported to the police for investigation.

At exactly 5:45pm that day, behold the thief was already mad and it was the schools turn for his madly visit. The man barged into the school  premises  by scaling the fence. Students were shocked to see their properties all tied into bunches with a rope and girdled round one man who was actually mad. They were confused and astonished at the same time. Some of them then recalled the funny curse Emeka uttered earlier at the hostel in the afternoon. At this point even Emeka was also confused cause he couldn’t understand why everything he said always comes to be. Most of the students on hearing that it was his words that made the thief mad, they started hailing him with praises but the small boy was not happy because he was not sure of what was going on with him.

Later at night after lights out, he came out to pee before going to bed and he stepped outside alone, he saw three men in red ropes who asked him to come close but being scared, he stood still.  Then they told him that the gods have possessed him as a chosen one and that’s why he can command things in nature. Immediately he heard this, he recalled when he slumped and he wanted to run away but slumped again.
